Lawyers of Uttarakhand High Court today burnt copies of the Law Commission of India's recommendations on a bevy of issues including ban on strikes by legal practitioners and compensation to litigants if they abstain from work.
In response to a call by the Bar Council of India for a strike against the recommendations, the advocates of the high court burnt copies of the recommendations this afternoon.
The BCI plans to hold a protest march in Delhi on May 2 and has threatened to step up the campaign if its demand to roll back the recommendations is ignored.
The Bar Council of Uttarakhand will also stage a 'jail bharo andolan' on the May 2 if the demands are ignored.
