ULB polls will not have impact on assembly polls: Karna CM

Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar today said the results of the Urban Local Bodies polls will not have any impact on the coming Assembly polls as both elections are fought on different issues.

"... ULB elections are fought on local issues and Assembly elections on state-level issues," he told reporters here reacting to the urban local bodies poll outcome which saw Congress registering an impressive win.

However, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G Paramaeshwara said the results indicate that people want a change.

"The results indicate that people have voted for Congress, hoping that it will implement people-friendly schemes," he said.
 

Opposition Leader in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah, also said results show that the people are fed up with BJP's "corrupt rule" and they want a change.

Senior Karnataka Janata Paksha leader Dhananjay Kumar alleged K S Eshwarappa abdicated the post of State BJP President fearing loss in ULB elections.
