In an e-mail to PTI today, ULFA alleged that the three persons killed yesterday were not ULFA cadre but "innocent people killed as part of Congress' Panchayat election related pre-planned conspiracy."
The e-mail sent by ULFA publicity wing member Aranya Asom claimed that none of the underground outfit's armed cadres were present in Majuli yesterday when the encounter had taken place.
It has called the bandh from 6 am on Monday to protest against the "false encounter."
Police yesterday said three persons were killed, including an ULFA militant, and two others, including an ULFA linkman and a minor, were injured in an encounter with a joint team comprising police and CRPF in Ahatguri area of the island.
The dead were identified as ULFA cadre Rajiv Das and it was yet to be ascertained if two others -- Goda Pegu and Bhaben Pegu -- belonged to the outfit.
