On the eve of ULFA's 'martyrs day' tomorrow, an insurgent of its cultural wing surrendered with arms before the army and police in upper Assam's Moran police station in Dibrugarh district today.
The militant, Jayanta Gogoi alias Sarubhai (31) of the ULFA's Panchoi group (cultural wing), deposited a Chinese made grenade, several extortion notes and a memory chip of the banned outfit's propaganda songs.
Gogoi, hailing from Sibsagar district where ULFA was formed in , said he had joined the underground group in 2005 and since then working in its cultural wing.
Dibrugarh is the home town of ULFA-Independent's 'commander-in-chief' Paresh Baruah and general secretary Anup Chetia, besides many top leaders of the pro-talk faction led by its chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa.
