UM Motorcycles, the Indian arm of the American motorcycle maker UM International, LLC, today increased prices of its bikes -- Renegade Commando and Renegade Sports S -- in the country by up to Rs 8,000.

The company, which has a tie-up with Lohia Motors, has hiked price of its 280-cc cruiser model Renegade Commando by Rs 5,000 to Rs 1.64 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The company also increased price of its another model, Renegade Sports S by Rs 8,000 to Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Renegade Commando was earlier priced at Rs 1.59 lakh while Renegade Sports S was tagged at Rs 1.49 lakh. The prices have been revised with effect from January 1.

"This price revision is on account of increase in the cost of raw material and other cost of operations. We have rationalised the costs, but taken care that impact is minimal," UM Motorcycles Director Rajeev Mishra said in a statement.

The company continues to offer finance at attractive interest rates for customers to enter the brand, Mishra added.

In 2014, US-based UM Motorcycles and Lohia Auto had formed a joint venture UM Lohia to roll out a new range of motorcycles for the Indian market.
