The UN flag will be flown along with the national flag on all buildings on which the tricolour is regularly flown on October 24 to mark the United Nations Day.

The UN flag can be displayed on either side of the national flag. The general practice is to fly the tricolour on the extreme right with reference to the direction which it is facing, i.E. Extreme left of an observer facing the masts flying the flags.

Necessary instructions have been issued to the Ministry of Urban Development and Ministry of External Affairs for conveying the instruction to all Embassies and High Commissions of India, a Home Ministry release said.

The UN Flag is, however, not flown at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Vice-President's House, Parliament House and Supreme Court building.
