A UN official says a helicopter with the UN peacekeeping mission in eastern Congo came under rebel attack.
Mary Robinson, the UN special envoy for the Great Lakes region, said today the helicopter came under direct fire yesterday from positions held by the M23 rebels in the Rumangabo region. She condemned the attack.
The M23 fighters launched their rebellion last year and briefly overtook the city of Goma almost a year ago.
