A school bag found abandoned in the city airport today led to anxious moments for nearly two hours before it was traced to a passenger who apparently had left it in absent-mindedness.

As the passengers of a private airline who arrived from Chennai left the security area around 7.30 AM, an attendant noticed the bag lying unclaimed and alerted the airport officials, police said.

The officials in turn informed bomb detection squad personnel who removed it to a safe area and found it containing some notebooks bearing the name of a girl student of Lovedale near Udhagamandalam.

After checking the passengers' list, the officials found that the girl had travelled by the flight.
