Press Trust of India Vellore (TN)
An unclaimed box with some wires attached to a cellphone triggered panic near a Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) residential area at Ranipet here today even as police said that it did not appear to be an explosive substance.

Besides the wires and cellphone, some 'powdery substance' was found in the box which the experts were examining. Prima facie the object did not seem to be an explosive substance, Vellore SP Vijayakumar said.

The incident comes close on the heels of the May one twin bomb blasts on board the Kaziranga Express at the Chennai Central Railway Station that claimed a woman's life and the crude bomb explosion in Cuddalore district two days later, in which an history-sheeter and four others were injured.
