A Chinese welfare lottery centre said it donated over USD 3 million after the winner failed to redeem the prize by the expiration date.
A lottery ticket vendor in the southern Chinese city of Dongguan sold two tickets with numbers confirmed on November 10, 2015 to win a combined 25.64 million yuan in prize money.
Under China's lottery rules, the holder of winning tickets should redeem the prize within 60 days after it is announced.

The rules also stipulate that expired prize money should be put into the welfare fund, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
No one showed up as of last night to claim the winnings, and the local welfare lottery center donated the money to the welfare fund.
