An undertrial prisoner has committed suicide by hanging himself in Bettiah district jail, police said today.
Manmohan Patel (30) committed suicide by hanging himself in an abandoned toilet in the district jail premises last night, Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Sah said.
Patel was found missing during roll call last evening and he was found hanging during a search in the jail premises, he said.
A native of Purani Gudari locality of Bettiah town, Patel was lodged in the district jail after he was arrested in connection with an incident of kidnapping three months ago, he said.
