the district jail here died this morning, prison authorities said.
Safruddin, facing charges of killing his wife, was undergoing treatment in the jail hospital since October 3. This morning after he got high fever and vomiting, he was rushed to the district hospital but died on the way, Jail Superintendent R N Upadhaya said.
The father of the deceased, however, has accused the jail administration of foul play and demanded a thorough inquiry.
The father said that he had met his son on October 8 and he had no health issues then.
The deceased, a resident of Kakoda village, was lodged in jail since last year.
