Undertrial dies during treatment in Rajasthan

A 25-year-old undertrial lodged at the Hanumangarh Central Jail, who was arrested for molestation and assault, died today during treatment at PBM Hospital in Bikaner, jail authorities said.

Rajesh Kumar Meghwal, a resident of Muksar in Punjab, was sent to judicial custody in last year September, they said, adding he was hospitalised on Januray 18 after his health deteriorated.

The police is investigating the matter, authorities said.

Meghwal was booked under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 458 (Trespass or house-breaking by night after preparation for hurt, assault) of IPC and under provisions of the SC/ST Act, they added.
