A 23-year-old undertrial, who was apprehended in a contraband case just one week ago, and was in police custody at Neemka jail here, today died at a hospital as his condition allegedly deteriorated, police said.
Jail Superintendent Deepak Sharma said the undertrial, Chandar's health condition deteriorated this morning and he was sent to Badshah Khan hospital, where he died.
Chandar, a resident of Linepura area in Palwal, who used to work as a mason, was arrested a week ago by Palwal city police station for allegedly keeping contraband (ganja). He was sent to Neemka jail after being produced in the court, Sharma said.

The body has been handed over to family members after the post mortem test, he said.
Meanwhile, Chandar's brother Rupchand said his brother was in sound health at the time of arrest, alleging that there may be a foul play behind his death.
