Undertrial escapes; 2 constables suspended

An undertrial, who was undergoing treatment at the district hospital here, today escaped from custody following which two jail constables were suspended, police said.

The accused Ajender Singh, 40, who was lodged in district jail and recently shifted to the district hospital escaped from the custody, Superintendent of district jail S R Singh, told PTI.

The accused was involved in over one dozen cases of murder and loot, he said.

Two jail constables Ashok Gujjar and Sanjai were suspended in this connection, he said.

Singh said police in western UP has been alerted and a search operation initiated.

A case has been registered against the escaped undertrial, he said, adding, an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
