: An undertrial prisoner, who is facing several cases, including one under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, escaped from the district prison here in the wee hours of today, police said.
Jinnappa Parava (37) managed to flee despite beefed-up security in the prison following incidents of smuggling of mobile phones and ganja into the jail and frequent clashes between groups of prisoners.
Police said Parava, who was also facing severalcases of theft, was in the prison since 2015 after the caseunder POCSO Act was registered against him.

The security personnel were clueless about how he jumped the prison escaping their watch.
A case abouthis disappearance has been filed at the Barke police stationhere, police said.
