Undertrial flees from police custody in UP

A 20-year-old undertrial lodged in the district jail here fled from police custody while being brought back after hearing in a court case, an official said.

Tejvir alias Baiga was being brought back after hearing in a case when he tricked the two accompanying police personnel complaining of stomach ache and vomiting and fled from near the jail gates, Jail Superintendent Arvind Kumar said.

He belongs to Nachni village under Islam Nagar police station area and was brought to the jail on June 24 in connection with a theft case, the Superintendent said.

Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Yadav said that a case has been lodged against the police personnel and hunt is on to nab the culprit.
