The prisioner Munna Jha fled from a place under town police station area when the policemen disembarked from the vehicle to clear a jam.
Superintendent of police Varun Kumar said the accused was in jail on charge of theft. A case has been lodged with the Vidyapatinagar police station in this connection.
Police is making efforts to nab the escapee, the SP said
