"Jayanti, who was rushed to the hospital following labour pain yesterday, has given birth to a boy soon after she was admitted," hospital sources said.
Talking to newsmen, Jayanti said she wanted to give education to her child to make him a doctor.
"Jayanti alongwith husband Surya Deo Singh and four others were arrested from Chakulia in September and was sent to jail custody for Maoist-affected Ghatsila in the state," Senior Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh Kumar Jha, said.
She was languishing in jail since then, sources said.
Jail Superintendent Ranjit Sinha said, "Jayanti, a resident of Patharchakri in Belpahari police station of West Bengal."
According to police record here, two cases including JMM leader's murder case were pending against her.
Earlier, JMM MP Sunil Mahto alongwith three others were shot dead by Maoists on March 4, 2007 at Baghuria in Ghatsila police station.
