Electoral authorities accompanied by income tax officials today seized an undisclosed sum of amount from a person at Egmore here.
While some reports claim that the seizure was around Rs 4 crore, Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni said the income tax department officials were counting the money and only after they complete their job can officials disclose the value of the seizure.
"Certainly there is seizure. The income tax officials are counting the money," he told PTI.

At Karur, officials recovered about Rs 4.77 crore from a house while Rs 10 lakh was seized from an ambulance.
However, the vehicle did not seem to be an ambulance per-se as it was registered in the name of an individual at Neyveli. Officials were probing the seizure, he said.
Ahead of the May 16 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, a strict vigil is being maintained by the Election Commission against transportation of unaccounted money, gold and illegal money transactions.
