Unhappy with salary, Army jawan climbs transmission tower

An Army jawan, who was allegedly unhappy with his salary, today climbed atop a 200 ft tall transmission tower, demanding better pay.

An official of the fire department, which has sent three of its vehicles to the spot, said the Assam Rifles jawan climbed on the tower located at Sarai Khale Khan area here at around 12 PM and refused to come down till his demand was met.

Police, as well as government officials, have also reached the spot and are trying to make the jawan come down from the tower, which carries high tension power lines, the official said.
