UNICEF has resolved to make Kerala a 'child friendly state' and effort is to achieve the goal with sustainable development in coming years.
Speaking at the launch of anniversary ceremony of UNICEF here, Governor P Sathasivam lauded the achievements of UNICEF and said "the genesis of Kudumbashree programme and Kerala being declared Baby Friendly State in the world can be attributed to the initiatives undertaken by UNICEF."
"Since its formation on 11 December 1946, UNICEF has been providing aid without discrimination due to race, creed, nationality, status or political belief", he said.

"UNICEF believes that there is hope for every child. The conviction that every child is born with the same inalienable right to a healthy, safe childhood has been a constant thread throughthe history of the organization", he added.
Job Zachariah, Chief of UNICEF State office for Kerala and Tamil Nadu said the organisation has decided to make Kerala a Child friendly state in all aspects with sustainable development.
"UNICEF has been working closely with the government, legislature, judiciary, civil society organizations, academic institutions, media and private sector for ensuring children's rights are realized", he said.
UNICEF work to promote and protect rights of the children, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized children for their accesses to health care, sanitation, education, protection against violence and abuse, he added.
