Union Home Sec reviews rescue, relief operations in Jammu

Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami today reviewed relief and rescue operations in flood-hit Jammu region and directed early restoration of road connectivity.

The Union Home Secretary took stock of the situation in a high level meeting chaired by him here, an official spokesman said.

Goswami, who went around various places in city to assess the damage caused by floods, took a detailed review of the LPG, ration supply, status of roads, health and number of other issues during the meeting.

He directed the concerned department to ensure that all roads are restored at an earliest so that flood victims can be supplied essential items in a hassle free manner.
 

He also asked IGP Jammu to deploy additional police personnels along national highway for better management of traffic so that the vehicles carrying ration supply, LPG and other essential items could reach Kashmir smoothly.

Regarding supply of medicines to Kashmir, Director Health Services Jammu was asked to ensure that adequate number of drugs including Anidiarroheal, antibiotic and anti-diabetic drugs are supplied to Srinagar on priority.
