Union minister of state for tribal affairs and Bharuch MP Mansukhbhai Vasava today said the police were "careless" and failed to prevent the recent communal clashes in Hansot town in Gujarat in which two people died.
Clashes broke out in Hansot in Bharuch district on Wednesday over a trivial incident.
Vasava today visited the town. Speaking to the reporters in Bharuch, he said such clashes were becoming frequent.

"I clearly believe that recent clashes in Hansot could have been averted if police had showed some alertness. Such clashes have taken place in the recent past too. Police should dig deep to find out the cause of clashes," he said.
"For some unknown reasons, police department remained careless and didn't pay attention to the problem. As the police remained inactive, clashes took place once again."
In December last year, when similar clashes took place in Hansot, Vasava had said the police were going soft on some anti-social elements who incited the violence.
Gujarat minister of state for home Rajni Patel said an inquiry will be conducted into Vasava's allegations.
