Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today flagged off the 'Turanga Yatra' here and announced that the Center would take measures in consultation with Odisha government to preserve and maintain the heritage buildings of the city.

'Tiranga Yatra' began from the historic Swaraj Ashram at Nimchouri and ended at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birthplace Museum, the nationalistic leader's birthplace at Odia Bazar.

"The Millennium city of Cuttack houses several heritage buildings of importance. The Central government in consultation with the local administration will take measures for conservation and maintenance of these monuments", the Union minister told newsmen here.

The Yatra, he said, is part of an effort to create awareness among youths about the country's rich heritage and sacrifices made for the Tricolour.

Organised by BJP Yuva Morcha, it was flagged off by Pradhan from Swaraj Ashram, which was the epicentre of freedom struggle in Odisha.
