Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju today lauded the Cochin International Airport Limited for the cost effective measures taken by it for constructing its new international terminal.
"CIAL is a model for other airports in building basic infrastructure facilities," the minister said in a release issued by CIAL here.
Chairing a meeting with top airport officials here, the minister noted that Airport Economic Regulatory Authority has fixed Rs 65,000 per square meter as benchmark cost for constructing airport terminal buildings, it said.

However, CIAL could build its new terminal at a cost of Rs 62,000 per square meter, the Minister said.
Raju, who returned from Lakshadweep after attending the fifth edition of National Minicoy festival spent three hours at the airport before heading for Hyderabad, airport sources said.
