Union minister of State for Transport Mansukh Mandaviya today reviewed the implementation of Uttarakhand's all weather roads and expressed satisfaction at the progress made so far.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year, amid much fanfare, the ambitious all weather roads project would smoothen the annual pilgrimage to the four famous Himalayan shrines.

Additional Chief Secretary in charge of PWD Om Prakash, who attended the meeting, said certain factors were delaying the implementation of the project in some parts of the state.

"The distribution of compensation in the land acquisition process, MoEF clearances, and eco-sensitive zone are delaying implementation," said Prakash.

"However, the Union minister assured that all bottlenecks in the path of its implementation will be removed on priority," he said.

The project is also likely to give a major boost to tourism in the state.
