Union Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptullah today formally adopted Phanda village under the 'Pradhan Mantri Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' (model village scheme).

"I have not adopted you people, but you have adopted me and now I will do everything to develop it into a model village," Heptullah said on the occasion.

The minister said she would consult everyone before framing schemes for the development of the village, located 20 km from here.

"I would construct a stadium and milk-based industries in the area and also establish an ITI and an educational institution for providing quality education," Heptullah said.

The minister termed the incident of a young woman being thrown off the Malwa Express in MP, allegedly by some persons yesterday, as "unfortunate" and demanded strict action against culprits to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
