Union Textiles Minister K S Rao faced protests from "united" Andhra Pradesh supporters today, after he visited his Lok Sabha constituency of Eluru, in the West Godavari district.

Protesters raised slogans against Rao over the ruling Congress' nod to a separate Telangana state on July 30.

When some agitators demanded his resignation, he said that his resignation would not stop the bifurcation of the state.

Meanwhile, protests continued across coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, to create a separate Telangana state.

"United" Andhra supporters organised rallies, sit-ins, fasts and other forms of protest at different places in the two regions.
