Uniphore appoints Samith VP, head of professional services

Uniphore Software Systems, a Chennai-based speech recognition company, today announced the appointment of Samith Ramachandran as Vice President and Head of Professional Services and M Thamarai Selvi as Director of Marketing and Communications.

Samith will be responsible for building the professional services organization and services portfolio, with a focus on rapid deployment, sustained operations and business growth, the company said in a statement.

Honda Cars launches mobile app for its customers * Honda Cars India today launched a mobile application that enables its customers to connect with their cars and family, as well as the company for support through smartphones.
 

Named the Honda Connect, the platform comes with various features including service booking alerts, manual SOS feature, insurance and PUC certificate renewal and ability to locate car among others.

"Today technology has become an integrated part of our lives. The development of Honda Connect is part of our mission to create innovations that best suit our customer' digital- based life styles," Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) President and CEO Katsushi Inoue told reporters.

* Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) today announced HPE Synergy, the first platform designed to run both traditional and cloud native applications for organisations seeking the benefits of running a hybrid infrastructure.

HPE Synergy leverages fluid resource pools, software defined intelligence and a unified API to provide the foundation for organisations to continually optimise the right mix of traditional and private cloud resources, the company official said.

Autodesk to stop sale of perpetual product licenses by July 31 * Designing software firm Autodesk, maker of AutoCAD and Maya, today said that it will end sale of perpetual licences of all its product and offer only subscription model from August 1.

"The industry is moving in direction where they need flexibility and affordability. We have decided to end sale of of perpetual licences for products by July 31, 2016 and offer only subscription model," Autodesk Country Manager Channels for India and SAARC Pankaj Gauba said today.
NCML, SBI sign MoU to assist small farmers

*Collateral service management provider, NCML, and State Bank of India today signed an MoU to assist small and marginal farmers in availing finance against storage of their agricultural produce.

This will help these farmers derive remunerative prices and avoid distress sale, NCML said in a statement.

*Muthoot Finance, a Muthoot Group company, today launched money remittance services between Indo-Nepal corridor.

*Non-banking financial company Fullerton India today said it has received Rs 150 crore from its parent company, Fullerton Financial Holdings.

The company will invest the funds for its future growth and also into its housing finance subsidiary, Fullerton India Home Finance.

*Sharon Bio-Medicine has received establishment inspection report form the US health regulator after the inspection of its Dehradun facility.

The company "has received the establishment inspection report from USFDA after inspection of the company's formulation manufacturing plant located at Sellaqui industrial area in Dehradun," Sharon Bio-Medicine said in a filing to BSE.

Alstom resumes ops at Pallavarm and Padappai facilities

*Alstom T & D India Ltd today announced the commencement of regular operations at its facilities in Pallavaram and Padappai, which were closed because of heavy rains in Chennai.

"The regular operations at these facilities started from December 7, 2015 onwards, and there has not been any material loss/damage to the property and assets of the Company, although some deliveries would get delayed", the company said in a filing to BSE.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has appointed Nachiket Mor to lead its India office, who presently is a member of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank.

"The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today announced that Nachiket Mor will be assuming the leadership of its India office, headquartered in New Delhi, effective immediately", the Foundation said in a statement.

Nachiket replaces Girindre Beeharry, who is moving into a senior global role within the foundation, it said.

Mor worked for ICICI Bank for 24 years and also serves on the boards of NABARD, MUDRA, and CRISIL.

Direct selling FMCG company Amway India today launched its first digitally enabled Experience Centre in Bengaluru, partnering with Microsoft.

Amway India has partnered with Microsoft to conceptualise and design the store with an aim to transform the consumer as well as distributor experience, the company said.

The "Experience Store" leverages multiple new-age technologies such as 'Augmented Reality', 'Gamification', 'Virtual Makeover Solution', 'Interactive Table Application' and 'Virtual Cart' to give an "immersive" experience to the user, Anshu Budhraja, CEO, Amway India, said.

* Sagar Cements railway siding project becomes operational

Sagar Cements today said its railway siding project which has been under implementation for quite some time has become operational with effect from today and added that the implementation of the project would result in significant reduction in the company's freight cost.

"The company's railway siding project which has been under implementation for quite some time has since been completed and has become operational with effect from March 15, 2016," Sagar Cements said in a regulatory filing.

The company further said that implementation of the project will hopefully result in a significant reduction in the company's freight cost both with respect to raw material as well as Sagar Cements' finished product, apart from expanding its market reach, the filing said.
DGCA, Women in Aviation organise session on gender awareness

* Aviation regulator DGCA along with India chapter of Women in Aviation organised an interactive session on creating awareness for equal gender representation within the industry and and empowering women.

The session, held as part of International Women's Day celebrations, was chaired by DGCA chief M Sathiyavathy. Women in Aviation, India Chapter President and Bird Group Chairperson Radha Bhatia was also present, according to a press release.

Women in Aviation is a non-profit group.

Kridhan Infra to buy 42% stake in Singapore firm for Rs 31cr * Foundation solutions provider Kridhan Infra has entered into a share purchase agreement with Singapore-based EPC firm Swee Hong for buying 42 per cent stake in the company for a consideration of Rs 30.92 crore (SGD 8 million).

The company's Singapore subsidiary KH Foges has signed the agreement with Swee Hong, wherein the former will subscribe to 300 million new shares in the Singapore firm and 500 million new warrants to subscribe for additional shares in it, Kridhan said in a statement issued here.

Each warrant entitles the holder to subscribe for one new share in Swee Hong, the foundation engineering firm said.
