The first unit of Kundankulam nuclear power plant, which resumed power generation last month after a technical snag, would be at full 1000 mw capacity in the next two days, while Unit II would start operating in May, a senior KNPP official said today.
"Power generation has touched 715 MW after generation resumed last month following a technical snag and will touch 1000 MW in the next two days. The second unit will also generate power in May," R S Sundar, the plant director, said.
Work on the third and fourth units were going on in full swing, he said.

Sundar was participating at a function organised to distribute Rs 9 lakh worth of vehicles for undertaking sanitary works in neighbouring villages.
Power generation at the plant had been stopped on February 16 due to a leakage in a steam pipe. It had resumed on January 30 after seven months of shutdown for maintenance, but was suspended on February 5 due to steam leak and was again started.
Earlier on June 24, 2015 the first plant at KNPP, an Indo- Russian collaborative venture, was shut down for maintenance after being in commercial operation since December 31, 2014.
