A 'unity march' would be held from Farengipete to Mani in Dakshina Kannada district on September 12 with the slogan 'restore peace and harmony,' district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai said today.

BJP, Sangh outfits, SDPI and PFI would be kept out of the march as they were "involved" in the violent incidents in the district in the recent past, Rai told reporters here.

A public meeting would be held at Mani at the end of the march.

The image of Dakshina Kannada district as a peaceful region had been tarnished by the untoward incidents in recent months and the march was to boost the morale of the general public, he said.

There would not provocative slogans or speeches during the march, the minister said.

The march was being held in response to the demand from various sections of society, he said.

BJP youth wing Yuva Morcha had already announced a 'Mangaluru chalo' bike rally on September seven to protest the inaction of the government in taking action against Muslim radical outfits like SDPI and PFI.
