Universal confirms 'Pacific Rim 2' is delayed

Production house Universal Pictures has confirmed the sequel to 2013 science fiction monster film "Pacific Rim" is delayed in production and the empty August 4, 2017 slot will now be filled with musical drama 'Pitch Perfect 3'.

The studio announced on Tuesday, September 29 the "Pacific Rim" sequel was indeed pulled from its release calendar but would eventually see the light, reported Aceshowbiz.

"Legendary and Universal Pictures are committed to having Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to 2013's Pacific Rim, which generated more USD 411 million at the global box office, be the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves," Universal said in a statement.
 

The studio continued, "To this end, the decision was made to delay the production and release of 'Pacific Rim 2' so that the creative team can continue in its efforts to exceed the amazing experience of the first film.
