University cautions staff, students for passing news to press

Bharathiar University here has cautioned its staff and students against passing on or sending unauthentic news related to the University by oral or in written to electronic media or press directly and to face disciplinary action against the individual concerned.

A varsity circular to the teaching staff, officers, non-teaching staff and students, blamed that some of the dailies were in the habit of publishing unauthenticated news items related to the University by quoting unauthorized sources, which spoiled the good reputation and image of the University, it said.

Stating that all press releases should be routed through the Registrar by PRO only, it said that if any damage was caused to the name and fame of the university by violation of the instruction it will be viewed very seriously and disciplinary action will be initiated under relevant rules.
 

It also requested the press not to entetain any such unauthentic news of the University in future, it said.

If any news is obtained from unauthorised sources, it should be sent to the Registrar for verification before publishing, the circular said.
