Saibal Chakraborty, SDO of Kalyani, has lodged the complaint with Haringhata police station yesterday.
Following allegations of financial irregularities in the agricultural university, the Mamata Banerjee government had appointed Chakraborty as its drawing and disbursing officer (DDO) a few months ago and an investigation is on into the 'scam'.
The police went to the university in search of the accused Registrar, Ashok Banerjee, today, but he was absent.
When contacted, Banerjee said he had talked to the vice-chancellor on the issue and would meet the BCKV Chancellor who is the Governor. "I have provided my certificates to the DDO and will cooperate with him," he said.
Superintendent of Police Sabyasachi Raman Mishra said a complaint had been received and the police would take action after verifying the papers.
BCKV sources said following allegations about the educational qualifications of the registrar, Chakraborty sought his testimonials from Vice-Chancellor Saroj Kumar Sanyal.
