Three persons have been booked for allegedly forcing a young unmarried woman to abort her pregnancy, police said today.

One of the accused befriended the 20-year-old girl and raped her between December 2014 and September this year, following which she became pregnant, Assistant Police Inspector API SS Jadhav of the Tulinj police station said.

"A complaint was registered in Khar police station as the victim resided in Mumbai. But the case has now been transferred to Tulinj police station of Vasai division as the accused reside in the area under the jurisdiction of the said police station," the officer said.

"After she got pregnant, they took her to Uttar Pradesh under some pretext where she was forced to undergo the abortion," he said.

A case under relevant sections of IPC was registered and efforts are on to nab the accused whose identity is withheld, police said.
