The government has so far removed 5,000 unscientific road humps, he said.
Deputy Commissioners and Traffic Superintendent of Police of all districts have been asked to identify unscientific road humps for removal, he said.
Mahadevappa said the government has also directed authorities concerned to paint all the road humps and put up signboards indicating humps ahead. Strict action will be taken with regard to illegal cutting and digging of the roads.
Raising the issue, Suresh Kumar said road humps were causing more and more accidents and the government was not taking appropriate steps to remove unscientific humps.
Although the purpose of having road humps was to avoid accidents by checking vehicle speed, the opposite was happening, Kumar said.
