Delhi girl Arya Ranjan upset 10th seed Shahil Dey in the first round junior event of the 2nd IIFL Wealth Mumbai International Juniors (Under-13) Tournament here today.
Dey, with a rating of 1886 points, was made to eat humble pie as he succumbed to a defeat at the hands of Arya, who is rated with 1193 points.
The action on the opening day mainly saw the higher seeds were playing significantly lower ranked players.

Andhra Pradesh lad Gukesh D, who is just 10 years of age with a rating of 2236, is the highest seed.
In another upset Gujarat's Moksh Doshi, with a rating of 1897, was held to a draw by the unheralded Stavin Jain who is rated 500 Elo points below.
A total of 186 talented and promising juniors are competing from across India and five other countries.
With a prize fund of Rs 8 lakhs, the tournament is the richest junior chess championship in the world.
