Mamata appeasing imams and intellectuals, says Adhir

Chowdhury accuses Banerjee of appeasing imams and intellectual

Press Trust of India Kolkata
Accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of appeasing imams and intellectual as she was unsure of public support, WBPCC President Adhir Chowdhury today reiterated his party’s stand of contesting the Lok Sabha elections alone in the state.

“Mamata Banerjee is appeasing imams and intellectuals and endorsing them as she is not sure of public support in the state. That is why she needs to appease them. We want to fight alone in Bengal and will fight alone,” Chowdhury said on the sidelines of a railway program here.

Chowdhury, who is also MOS Railways, criticised Banerjee’s tenure as Railway minister and said an RTI query to the Railway ministry would establish the truth of how much money was allotted by the union government and how many projects were announced.

“False promises were made by Mamata Banerjee during her tenure as railway minister to fool the people of Bengal. I would request if you to make an RTI query to the railway minister then you can yourself find out how much money was sanctioned and how many projects were announced with sanction of the money,” he said.

He also accused the Trinamool Congress government of not cooperating with the railway ministry for extension of the Metro railway projects. “Due to the non-cooperation by the state government on the extension of the Metro railways in Kolkata, the work has stalled. They are not cooperating in land acquisition needed for Metro extension,” Chowdhury said.
