UP 113 for no loss against J & K on Day 1

Openers Tanmay Srivastava and Akash Verma struck a half century each as Uttar Pradesh made the most of the 29 overs of play possible by scoring 113 for no loss on day one of their Ranji Trophy cricket match against Jammu and Kashmir here today.

Srivastava and Verma remained unbeaten on 56 and 55 respectively at the draw of stumps as they took the home team to a strong position after electing to bat in the Group A league match at the Green Park.

Srivastava struck 10 fours during his 87-ball 56 not out, while Verma's unbeaten 55 from 87 balls featured five fours and two sixes.
 

Jammu and Kashmir bowlers led by their captain Parveez Rasool toiled hard for the 29 overs they got today without any success.
