Two women lost their lives after the boat carrying them capsized in Renu river here, police said on Tuesday.
Circle Officer of Obra, Bhaskar Verma, said: "On Monday evening, 13 residents of Gudur village were returning home on a boat after selling milk in Obra. Due to sudden increase in the flow of water, the boat overturned."
"Hearing the cries, some villagers reached the spot and rescued nine people, while two more were rescued by the boatman," he added.
However, Prabhavati (76) and Rajkumari (40) went missing following the incident and their bodies were found on Tuesday, Verma said.
