Uttar Pradesh Assembly today passed by voice vote two bills pertaining to regularisation of temporary teachers and renaming of a technical institute amid walkout by Opposition BJP and BSP which were protesting against the legislation.

BJP opposed the UP Higher Eduction Service Commission (Amendment) Bill-2014, brought to confirm the services of teachers who are working on honorarium and have completed three years of service by 2003, demanding to raise the cut off date upto 2011. The party MLAs staged a walkout as their demand was turned down.

The House later passed the bill by voice vote.

Through UP Agriculture Technical University (Amendment) bill 2014, the government changed the name of Manyawar Kanshiram Ji Agriculture and Technical University to Banda Agriculture and Technical University.

BSP was opposed to the bill and its members walked out of the Assembly. This bill was also passed by voice vote.
