UP-based gangster wanted for 14 murders arrested

A UP-based gangster, allegedly involved in 14 murder cases, has been arrested by Crime Branch from Anand Vihar area, police said today.

The gangster has been identified as 45-year-old Satender Barwala. He was absconding from last 3-4 years and was also the main supplier of sophisticated weapons including carbines and AK-47 rifles to gangsters in Delhi and NCR, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

He is wanted in two murder cases and one case of extortion registered at Shahpur police station in Muzaffarnagar. A reward of Rs 12,000 was announced by UP Police on his arrest.

Crime Branch cops had specific input that Satender will arrive at Anand Vihar ISBT where a trap was laid and he was eventually caught.
 

A sophisticated pistol with six cartridges and a double barrel gun were recovered from him, said the officer.

During interrogation Satender revealed that his three close relatives including his grandfather and uncle were murdered by a distant relative Satpal and another local criminal Vinod Bawla in Muzaffarnagar.

He admitted committing murders to avenge the murders of his relatives.

He was arrested in 2003 and was behind the bars till 2009. After coming out of jail, he again indulged in crimes like murder, robberies, extortion,kidnapping and supplying arms, added the officer.
