UP Bird Festival to begin from Dec 4 in Agra

Uttar Pradesh Bird Festival, the first of its kind three-day long extravaganza, will be held in Agra from December 4 to promote eco-tourism in the state.

UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will inaugurate the initiative which will be held in Chambal Safari lodge, Jarar and Bah areas of the Taj city.

Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan, who held a meeting in this regard today, also directed the commissioner of Agra to complete all preparations by November 27, a release said.

Ranjan also asked the concerned officials to ensure proper awareness about the festival to draw more tourists and bird watchers, it said.
 

The festival should be made an annual affair and be organised in the first week of December every year, Ranjan said.

Early morning and evening would be for bird watching in the nearby forest followed by talks and workshops during the day, it said.

Prominent ornithologist from around the globe will participate in the talks. Workshops by professional photographers, art shows by renowned artists and a bird ringing station would also feature in the festival, it added.
