The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) began an indefinite sit-in whereby they kept cattle inside the tehsil office in Budhana town of Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district.
Hundreds of activists led by BKU's Budhana tehsil president Anuj Balyan staged the dharna on Thursday and kept the cattle inside the office.
The activists wanted cases registered against farmers for burning stubble in their fields to be dropped.
Due to the agitation, work was disrupted in the sub-divisional magistrate and tehsildar offices.
Farmers had also kept their stubble in the office aside from the cattle in protest.
The sub-divisional magistrate, circle officer and tehsildar offices are all situated in the same compound of the Budhana tehsil headquarters.
