UP bus fire: 24 booked for misbehaving during rescue ops

Twenty-four people were today booked for allegedly misbehaving with government officials during rescue operations at the site where a roadways bus caught fire, leaving nine people dead.

Nine people were killed and over 10 others injured when a UP State Roadways Transport Corporation roadways bus caught fire in Peeparpur area near here yesterday.

"Four named and 20 unidentified persons have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and The Criminal Law Act for allegedly misbehaving with government employees who were carrying out relief operations," SP (Amethi) Hira Lal said.

These persons had also caused traffic jam, he added.

Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at the Amethi depot premises. UPSRTC employees paid tributes and observed two-minute silence.
