UP Cabinet raises financial powers of ministers

The Uttar Pradesh government has raised financial powers of ministers and has empowered them to sanction projects of up to Rs 10 crore, officials said today.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here yesterday.

The cabinet amended provisions in the budget manual of taking approval for project cost of more than Rs 5 crore from chief minister and finance minister, the officials said.

Now a minister can sanction projects of up to Rs 10 crore they said.

Payments of over Rs 10 crore and less than Rs 25 crore will be approved by a minister concerned and the finance minister and the CM's approval will not be needed, the officials said.
 

Only projects of more than Rs 25 crore would need approval of the chief minister and the finance minister, officials said.
