The ruling Samajwadi Party today brought an allegation of "misuse" of official machinery against the previous Mayawati government with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav calling for a list of vehicles used by the Bahujan Samaj Party chief while she was in power.
"I will send you the list of vehicles used by the previous chief minister (Mayawati)," Yadav said while replying to a question in Vidhan Sabha.
The row in the Assembly erupted over a query related to the Power department when cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav alleged that the power minister in the BSP government had used 72 vehicles from the department.

That, it was pointed out, was one of the reasons why the department was currently going through a financial crisis.
Countering the charge, former Energy minister Ramveer Upadhyay said that he had only used one vehicle during his tenure and asked the ruling party to back their claims with a list of vehicles availed by him.
Thereupon, the chief minister himself stood up and said that he would first provide a list of the vehicles used by his predecessor Mayawati.
This was not the first instance when the ruling SP has made an allegation of misuse of official machinery against the previous BSP regime and the issue has in the past led to heated debates in the House between the rival parties.
