Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday appealed to people to adopt social distancing as preventive and precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus.
"I appeal to all to adopt social distancing and avoid going to crowded places to check spread of corona," the CM said.
The government has already taken number of measures due to which the situation is under control in the state, he said.
The CM also requested religious gurus to ensure that devotees did not gather in large numbers and thanked those who have already made appeals in this regard.
In view of Navratri, the CM also advised people to perform religious rituals at home.
The famous Vindhyachal temple in Mirzapur, meanwhile, has been closed down by local priests.
