Saying that the profits made under the scheme would also go abroad after foreign investments, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today questioned the viability of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project 'Make in India'.

"Foreign investment is being encouraged in the Make in India scheme of Centre but profit thus generated will also go abroad," Yadav said while addressing a programme here.

He said that the Uttar Pradesh government was promoting "Make in UP" and ensuring that the profit incurred is re-invested in the state only.

"As India is a big market, UP also has a big market with with over 20 crore population. We believe that if facilities are provided to industrialists, investments will also pour in," Yadav said.

The state government has tried to make favourable atmosphere of investment in the state and entrepreneurs in big numbers are turning towards the state, the chief minister claimed.
